The Trees Grow So High is a version of a traditional song which is known by many titles, including "The Trees They Do Grow High", "Daily Growing", "Long A-Growing" and "Lady Mary Ann". There are many versions of the song with different melodies and lyrics, so it's fair to have my own take on the song. However, although I have played with the arrangement of the lyrics, the story stays true to it's origin. The subject of the song is an arranged marriage of a young woman by her father to a boy who is much younger than she is.
